The Town Clerk’s Office is the record-keeping department for the Town of Brunswick. The office issues, records, maintains, and preserves the:
- Minutes of the Town Council and Other Meetings of Brunswick Boards, Committees, and Commissions
- Municipal Code of Ordinances
- Other Official Document
- Vital Records Such as Birth, Marriage, and Death
The office is also responsible for the following licenses:
- Business
- Marriage Licenses (By Appointment Only)
- Cannabis
- Chicken & Domesticated Farm Animals
- Dog
- Hunting & Fishing
- Liquor
- Moorings
- Shellfish
- Special Amusement
The Town Clerk administers all aspects of elections, voter registration, and campaign finance, as well as Board, Committee and Commission openings and applications.
Our priority is to provide accurate information and excellent customer service to Brunswick’s citizens and other Town departments in accordance with the Town Charter and Code of Ordinances, as well as Maine State Statutes.
Notary Service fees are available at a charge of $10 per signature. You may want to check with your local banks to see if they provide the service for free to their customers.
We do not notarize wills, I9s, real estate closing, or select power of attorney paperwork.
- What do I need to do to get a passport?

- Where do I get a business license?

Many types of businesses require annual licenses and some require inspections as well. Expiration dates vary. For more information, please see the Licenses page in this section.
- How do I get a marriage license?

After making an appointment, both applicants must appear in person within ninety days of the wedding, in the municipality of residence of either one, to apply for a marriage license. Out of state residents may apply in any municipality in the state. For more information, please see the Licenses page in this section.
- How do I get a copy of a birth, marriage or death certificate?

Certified and non-certified copies of birth, marriage and death certificates can be purchased through the Town Clerk's Department. Access is restricted. For more information, please see the Vital Records page in this section.
- How do I register a dog?

Dog licenses are required for all dogs six months of age and older. Licenses are for the calendar year and can be purchased at the Town Clerk's office. A current rabies certificate and proof of spay/neuter, if applicable, are required. For more information, please see the Licenses page in this section.
- How do I register to vote?

Voter registration can be done at the Town Clerk's office during regular business hours. View detailed information on the State of Maine Voter Registration requirements.
- How do I get a hunting/fishing license?

You may purchase a hunting/fishing license at the Town Clerk's office, other agents throughout the state, or online.
- How do I get a shellfish license?

Resident and non-resident Recreational shellfish licenses are available at the Town Clerk's office beginning the first Monday in April each year. Restrictions apply. For more information on both recreational and commercial shellfish licenses, please see the Licenses page in this section.

We do not currently have digital copies of the town records. If you are interested in viewing the road books, please contact the Town Clerk's office to set up a time. The following list and scans may not be a complete list. The Town Engineer may provide additional information.
