JOIN US FOR THE 7th ANNUAL MAINE BACKYARD CAMPOUT 

JULY 10-12, 2026

We hope you will join us and be a part of something special! The Maine Recreation and Park Association, along with more than 25 Parks and Recreation Departments throughout the state, have planned the 5th Annual “Maine Backyard Campout”, taking place the weekend of July 10-12, 2026.

The weekend of July 10-12 was chosen to celebrate National Parks and Recreation Month, which is held annually during the month of July. Every day, in communities across the country, those who work in parks and recreation are providing essential services and making their communities better places to live, work and play. The mission of this event is to encourage families to get outdoors and enjoy a camping experience in their own backyard or even in the living room!

Every family that registers will be automatically entered into a drawing to win a camping themed gift package filled with camping goodies for the whole family! The drawing will be held Thursday, July 9th at 3:30pm. The winners will have their gift package available for pick-up at the Brunswick Recreation Center on Friday, July 10th from 8:30am-4:00pm!

Following your registration, you will be sent a packet with information about the event! In this packet is a backyard camping checklist, ideas for fun activities, tips on campfire safety, s’mores recipes and a postcard with our return address (pretend your on vacation and send us the postcard back) We look forward to seeing your photos and posts on our Facebook page.
