Davis Fund Committee
Mission/Purpose
The Nathaniel Davis Fund Committee is charged with the responsibility of recommending projects to the Town Council that most clearly fit the terms of the will of Samuel Gross Davis that included a bequest made in memory of his father, Nathaniel Davis, born in 1791. Nathaniel Davis was “a substantial and useful citizen, the proprietor of a stationery store on Mason Street from 1825 until his death in 1866.”
Membership
The Davis Fund Committee consists of seven (7) members who are appointed by the Town Council.

Meeting Schedule
Annually in May to interview grant applicants, and over the winter as needed to plan.
Committee Responsibilities
The will of Samuel Gross Davis, son of Nathaniel Davis, stipulates that the income from the Nathaniel Davis Fund shall be used for the “pleasure of its inhabitants as the government of Brunswick of that year shall decide.” The committee meets with representatives of each organization requesting funds and makes recommendations to the Town Council. Grants typically range between $200 and $2,500.

The Davis Committee will present to the Town Council on an annual basis.

Application Information
The 2025 application form and guidelines will be available by March 1, 2025 and will be posted in the Documents section below. Typically, eight (8) copies of the application are due by mid-April.
