Midcoast Regional Development Authority (MRRA) reported to the Town that they heard from the airport manager with Flight Level Aviation that the New England Aerobatic Association is flying today, May 28, through Saturday, May 31 from 9 am to 4 pm with approximately 2 -2.5 hour of actual fly time.
They have three events planned this summer, this one, July, and September. The actual days for the other dates are to be determined. One change from last year is that the New England Aerobatic Association is not flying two weekend days in a row during events.
The area that the planes fly in is called an aerobatic box. The aerobatic box is a 1X1 mile box with an altitude range of 1,500 feet to 5,000 feet. The aerobatic box is completely situated over airport property and approved by the FAA. The only time the planes are not in the box is upon entering or exiting the box.
