BRUNSWICK, MAINE — Beginning Monday, July 7, 2025, Brunswick Town Hall will change its hours of operation to better serve its customers by opening earlier in the morning four days a week. Town Hall will now be open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 AM until 4:30 PM and will be closed on Fridays.
This change addresses the demonstrated needs of the community by shifting open hours to coincide with peak customer activity. The number of visits to Town Hall are at their lowest late in the day and on Fridays.
“We have heard from many community members who struggle to get to Town Hall during the traditional workday,” said Julia Henze, Brunswick’s Town Manager. “By opening earlier Monday through Thursday, we are offering better opportunities for residents and businesses to access Town Hall resources and services.”
Brunswick plans to roll out additional online services this summer to assist customers, such as Tyler Technologies’ Resident Access — a secure, 24/7 online portal to view and pay bills and property taxes in one convenient place. Currently, available online services include vehicle registration renewal, tax bill payments, and vital record requests. The Town is also unveiling a website refresh in July which will make information and online services easier to navigate.
Brunswick is part of a growing number of municipalities moving to a four-day work schedule to achieve greater effectiveness in delivering their wide range of services. Results of a survey conducted by the Maine Municipal Association in 2024 show that 223 municipalities have made this shift, including Biddeford, Gorham, Falmouth, Lewiston, Scarborough, and South Portland.
