Update on the Accidental Release of Firefighting Foam at Brunswick Landing
The Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is the lead agency handling the spill response at Hanger 4 at Brunswick Landing. They are working in cooperation with the Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Marine Resources, United States Navy, Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority (MRRA), Brunswick & Topsham Water District, Brunswick Sewer District, and the Town of Brunswick.
Maine DEP is still in the investigation and clean-up phase of their response, including testing of the firefighting foam to identify its chemical properties. After the clean-up is complete, Maine DEP will then transition to remediation activities.
