[ARCHIVED] Mass Casualty Shooting

The Town of Brunswick's thoughts and support are with the people of Lewiston and the surrounding communities.

We are deeply saddened by the horrific act of violence that has struck Lewiston, Maine. We mourn the senseless loss of life and send our deepest condolences to all affected by this terrible tragedy; we are grieving with you. To simply offer or accept “thoughts and prayers” does nothing to capture the heartache, desolation, and anger we are all feeling.

Though we hail from different cities and towns, as Mainers we maintain a strong connection and sense of community, especially during times of tragedy and sorrow. As we continue to navigate this disturbing upheaval to our sense of order and safety, please take care of yourselves and your loved ones, and be sure to seek support resources available to you in your community.

Please remain vigilant as we wait for law enforcement to locate the shooter. Town Hall and Brunswick Schools are closed today.  Brunswick Police assisted last night and remain available in efforts to apprehend the suspect.  We urge anyone with information to contact the Police Department.  We will continue to monitor events and provide updates as information becomes available.
